Proofreading

We’re human. We all miss things―especially in our own writing. Your draft is in its final stages, and all it needs now is a focused pass for grammar, punctuation, consistency, and fact-checking. Note: I defer to Chicago Manual and Merriam-Webster (with a few exceptions).

Copy/Line Editing

Editors don’t always combine these two stages, but I do. This is a line-by-line edit to adjust for clarity and flow. We’ll tweak dialogue to make it sound more natural, and rearrange words and sentences to make your writing more readable. But don’t worry. We’ll maintain your unique and fabulous voice the whole time.

Structural Editing

Perhaps your draft needs a more substantial boost. I’ll help you rearrange sections and chapters, trim the fat, and fill in the gaps. We can get into some light developmental editing here too, if needed. All of these editing levels may vary from one editor to the next. Let’s work together to figure it out for you and your book.

I base my pricing on current per-word EFA rates, but each project is unique, so let’s chat. Contact me for a free, no-obligation evaluation. I’ll do a sample edit of two or three pages (or more), and we can go from there. What have you got to lose?
